Foothills Regional High School strives to equip students with the academic knowledge and technical skills they need to thrive in today’s workforce. The staff aims to open doors to a broad range of future career opportunities, ensuring students are well-prepared for success whether their journey takes them to college, the military, career-track jobs, or a blend of these pathways.
In addition to multiple Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathways, Foothills periodically offers work-ready programs in automotive technology, electrical engineering, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, nutrition, and welding at various sites. These programs and opportunities provide students with practical experience, certifications, and skills directly applicable to the workplace and are designed to give students a competitive edge in the workforce.
“Foothills has established strong partnerships with businesses and industries across our region to support our students in various ways,” said Regional Director for Workforce Development Melissa Griffin. “In addition to offering work-based learning and employment opportunities, our partners also prepare students for the workforce by teaching classes and providing hands-on learning experiences. Quality training and awareness of opportunities are key to success for students, whether they enter the workforce right after graduation or after post-secondary education, and we are proud that Foothills and its partners can provide this high-level training in employability and technical skills.”
With a continued focus on expanding these opportunities across our region, Foothills is expanding the Manufacturing Associates class to the Clarke site for the first time this spring. As part of this program, participants will obtain OSHA 10, forklift, Lean Six Sigma, and CPR/First Aid/AED certifications, as well as training in cranes and rigging, basic electricity, hand tools, torque wrenches, and other areas of manufacturing and mechanics.
Foothills is proud to partner with state leaders and support their efforts to identify and fill the high-demand industries across our state and region. In partnership with Georgia Power, the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission, and the Walton County Development Authority, Foothills is stepping up to fill the needs of manufacturing and skilled trade employers. These jobs are in high demand and provide students with high-skill and high-wage employment opportunities, supporting Georgia in remaining the number one state for business.
